Your Year-Round Cape Cod Packing List

    Dressing for Cape Cod Summer

The overarching theme of Cape Cod attire is predominantly casual per our leisurely peninsula culture. Many people wear preppy summer fashion that features classic nautical colors. You can’t go wrong with navy blue, stripes, bright white button-ups, and some brown leather loafers. If you’re a little more on the edgy side, try some bohemian sundresses, cat-eye sunglasses, and pastel sneakers for walking. It’s easy to add a personal flair to this popular way of dress.

Beach apparel is a necessity when traveling to Cape Cod in the summer. Be sure to bring your bathing suit for those sunny mornings and relaxing afternoons lounging in the sunshine on one of our many amazing beaches. Don’t forget a hat and slip-on sandals for the windy, sandy conditions at the beach. We recommend a straw hat, fun-patterned bucket hat, classic baseball cap, or sunglasses to keep the sun rays at bay.

A camera is a great, practical accessory to carry with you when the perfect photo op arises. After all, our area, and especially our uniquely different beaches, has no shortage of sightseeing and spectacular views!

Cape Cod evenings are cool and comfortable. It’s the perfect weather to sit outside at one of Brewster’s amazing restaurants. We recommend wedge sandals or boat shoes paired with a cardigan or fitted blazer for your evening attire. If nothing in your closet is striking a chord, you can also always buy some Cape Cod outfits at one of our favorite local shops.

Dressing for Cape Cod Fall and Spring

The weather in the Cape fluctuates the most in the spring and fall. This means you need to pack layers and options! There will be a few warm days, so a classic T-shirt and jeans are a good start. Pair them with a sweater and a jacket— always remember that you can add and take away layers depending on the weather. Spice it up with a scarf and hat. Not only are they stylish, but they’ll keep you warm! Close-toed shoes are a must during these seasons. You can wear anything from trendy boots for walking around town or sneakers for biking and exploring the outdoors.

    Dressing for Cape Cod Winter

It gets chilly during the winter in Cape Cod, but it remains a beautiful oasis! Cozy sweaters and warm shoes are a must. Keep packing layers for these cold months so you take a walk on the beach and then shed some of these layers inside a quintessential Cape Cod seafood restaurant. If you’re planning to spend some time outside, we recommend bundling up. You’ll most likely want a hat and mittens along with your winter coat.

    Don’t Forget These Items

There are a few items on your Cape Cod packing list that might slip your mind. One is a reusable water bottle. We provide these in-room at our inn, but this is a great item to bring along on your walks along the beach, bike rides, and other outdoor adventures!

A great beach bag or oversized purse is also a good idea to pack for carrying all your gear. This can be your carry-on at the airport or an additional way to store some snacks during your road trip. Other must-bring items include a phone charger, camera batteries, and other electronic additions you might need. Also, don’t forget your toiletries like a toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, and razor.
