Men on Boats at Cape Rep Theatre – June 22 – July 22, 2017

In 1869, one-armed explorer John Wesley Powell and his crew of 9 men in 4 boats went down the Colorado River into the Grand Canyon, not knowing what lay ahead.  This great adventure is reenacted by ten women —- the rapids, the rations, the ride of their lives— an ingenious, hilarious, brilliant new play and a hit of the season last year at New York City’s Playwrights Horizons. Written by Jaclyn Backhaus, Directed by Maura Hanlon.

Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway (Boston to Provincetown) – June 24 – 25, 2017

The Bike MS: Cape Cod Getaway 2017 is the largest MS ride in New England. Beginning on Saturday morning, over 2,000 riders will pedal from Quincy, MA through the coastal towns of Massachusetts’ South Shore to the beginning of Cape Cod. The end of day one is at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Bourne, where the riders are welcomed with music, great food and maybe even a beer or two.

Early Sunday morning, the riders cross the Bourne bridge and ride through picturesque Cape Cod as they make their way to Provincetown.

3rd Annual Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival – July 7 – 16, 2017

The Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival is an annual celebration of the region’s blue, pink, and white signature flowers. This ten day festival’s main attractions are the daily tours of private gardens, each designed and maintained by the individual homeowners and carrying a unique charm. You are sure to enjoy such eclectic spaces, not to mention the good feeling of supporting a variety of local nonprofits.

Gardens, several of which are in Brewster, are only one part of the festival. Enjoy workshops and lectures presented by leading international horticulturalists, discover promotions at participating nurseries and home centers, take a class to learn proper hydrangea pruning techniques, or even watch a painting demonstration by renowned Cape Cod artists both in-studio and in the gardens themselves.

Billy Elliot the Musical at Cape Rep Theatre – August 2 – 27, 2017

Pan-Mass Challenge – August 5 – 6, 2017

Together, they strive to provide Dana-Farber’s doctors and researchers the necessary resources to discover cures for all types of cancer. 65th Annual Society of Cape Cod Craftsmen Craft Fair – August 8 – 10, 2017

A short drive from the Candleberry Inn, visit this fine juried craft show featuring the work of the Cape Cod Craftsmen. This years’ 65th special celebration will include select invited Cape Cod artists. The show will be held rain or shine under a big white tent. 39th Annual Brew Run – Saturday, August 12, 2017

5.2 mile run in Brewster, MA that starts at 4:00 P.M. and finishes at the Woodshed Bar on Route 6A, across the street from the Candleberry Inn.  This popular run is known for its huge prize giveaway after the event. It is co-sponsored by the Brewster Rescue Squad and The Woodshed Bar to benefit The Brewster Rescue and Safety.

Against the Tide – Saturday, August 19, 2017

Swim, Kayak, Walk or Run at Nickerson State Park, just moments from the Candleberry Inn.  Against the Tide is a family-friendly, multi-sport event to benefit the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). MBCC is the only non-profit in the state dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer from environmental causes. You may participate in several events to fundraise on behalf of MBCC and its important mission to change the legacy of breast cancer for future generations. A New Brain at Cape Rep Theatre – September 14 – October 15, 2017

In the throes of writer’s block for an irritating children’s TV show, composer Gordon Schwinn experiences a sudden life-threatening brain disorder which engulfs him and those he loves in a tumultuous, surreal and very funny ordeal.  Based on an incident in his own life, William Finn (Falsettos and The 25th Annual County Spelling Bee) explores what is truly important in life and love.
