Breakfast

Candleberry Inn is a nine-room, Cape Cod boutique bed and breakfast specializing in simple elegance. Our goal is to deliver a luxury experience with little fuss to our guests. This spans from the well-manicured gardens and lawns to honoring the historic feel of the inn, while adding modern comforts throughout the spaces.

From designing and outfitting guest rooms with comfortable furnishings and plush all-cotton linens, to the many extras in each room, with baths featuring newly renovated spa showers, soaking tubs, and marble and stone finishes. And the amenities – from the Malin & Goetz bath products to the afternoon homemade treats, and complimentary beach gear – every step along the way of your stay.

It’s also about the gourmet breakfast we serve every morning, included with your stay.

At Candleberry Inn, we believe that your breakfast experience is as important as all the other moments of your visit with us. We have curated a fine dining experience that we hope lives up to Adam Mansbach’s sentiment
that “Eating is truly one of the great pleasures of life.”

Enjoy a Gourmet Breakfast on Cape Cod

At breakfast each course is personally prepared, plated and served to your table. You have a choice of enjoying breakfast in our historic 1790’s dining room, or on the covered garden patio with bistro tables overlooking the lush west lawns and gardens. Outdoor heaters give guests the option of having breakfast on the patio even on the chillier mornings of the spring and autumn seasons.

Our breakfast is a pampering, personalized experience where you are seated, and all courses and beverages are served to you.

The breakfast experience consists of several courses, with menu items never repeated during your visit. Each breakfast includes a beautifully plated fresh fruit course, followed by a hot main course. Fruit courses vary from day to day, featuring dishes like grilled pineapple spears with orange, strawberry, and blackberry garnish, or a mini panna cotta nestled under a variety of mixed berries with a raspberry coulis, or a simple fruit skewer lightly dusted with turbinado sugar and lemon zest.

The main entrées alternate between sweet and savory dishes each day, many of which are inspired by our Italian mothers and heritage. Some examples include Marco’s mom Luisa’s “zucchini frittata” (with just three ingredients) and Angelo’s mom Flora’s “patate rustiche” (potatoes, eggs, peppers and mild sausage). Another guest favorite is “uova in camicia” (our version of poached eggs with an Italian twist), and of course we serve popular breakfast staples like our apple-blueberry pancakes and challah French toast, just to name a few.

Much thought and planning go into the plating and presentation of these meals, and we intentionally don’t over plate to deliver a carefully curated experience – and we happily serve additional helpings, in fact it’s the highest compliment to serve more!

Ingredients are carefully selected and sourced by Angelo, whether shopping at nearby farms, farm stands or markets. He’ll typically shop at various locations every day to purchase select items, including cage-free eggs and organic fruits and vegetables.

Beverages are also personally served to you at breakfast, including your choice of gourmet blend coffees, espresso or cappuccino, and a variety of selected teas, as well as juices and water. Cream, half and half, whole milk, skim milk, almond milk, and oat milk are always available. Our self-serve guest pantry is also available anytime for early risers who would like coffee or tea before breakfast time.

Breakfast Seatings

To deliver the personalized breakfast experience to each guest, we offer breakfast seating times that are pre- scheduled with ten-minute intervals in arrival times beginning at 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. Since all courses are personally prepared, we aren’t able to serve more than one room per seating time. If traveling with other guests, we can schedule your seating times close to each other.

The Rest of Your Day

The culinary experience continues later in the day with our afternoon treats that we bake every day. Around 3:00 P.M. each day, a personalized package or box containing the special, homemade treat of the day is delivered to the dining room for guest pickup – either at check-in or when you get back from your day out on Cape Cod. Some favorites include the cinnamon sour cream crumb cake (a recipe passed down by a childhood neighbor of Angelo), anginetti (anise cookies), triple chocolate cookies, lemon stuffed coconut cookies, almond thumbprint cookies, and a great old fashioned chocolate chip cookie… again just to name a few.

In addition, there is self-serve complimentary ice cream, soft drinks, sodas and seltzers, as well as our all-day guest pantry offering self-serve coffee, tea, espresso and water any time.

Dietary Restrictions and Food Allergies

With advance notice we can accommodate almost any dietary restriction or food allergy. Gluten free, dairy free, nut free and egg free recipes have become quite common for us, and we’ve developed some delicious alternatives! Just let us know in advance so that we can be ready for your breakfasts and afternoon refreshments.

Ranked #1 on TripAdvisor’s Top 25 Bed and Breakfasts in the USA and #7 worldwide in 2024, you’ll definitely want to experience what many reviewers are talking about – our breakfasts!

“The homemade breakfasts and afternoon sweets are delicious! Breakfast was on the garden patio and it’s such a magical place to have breakfast in the morning. Even though the inn is on a main road on the Cape (route 6A) the garden patio provided enough coverage because of the luscious plants and flowers. (Would totally recommend drinking the Brewster Sunrise!) The afternoon snacks were delicious and we were excited everyday to see what yummy treats we’d get in the afternoon (they changed everyday). They also packaged these in their own individual containers and wrote any allergy information on these packages which I appreciated as I have a nut allergy.”
