Visiting the Heritage Museums and Gardens

The Automobile Gallery

One unique aspect of the Heritage Museums and Gardens is the exquisite Automobile Gallery. Within this gallery is a permanent collection of antique and classic cars, titled Driven to Collect. This reproduction of the Round Stone Barn at Hancock Shaker Village includes a lot of history amongst these vehicles. Learn how the museum founder began collecting these American automobiles and discover his passions as you explore the culture. Some of the fine cars included are a 1962 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1932 Auburn Boattail Speedster, and a 1909 White Steam Car Model M owned by President Taft.

The Gardens at Heritage

The Heritage Museums and Gardens would not be complete without the latter. The gardens are a collection in their own, featuring a variety of landmarks and displays amongst over 100 acres! Here, you will discover the Old East Windmill, built in Orleans back in 1800 for grinding wheat, rye, barley, and salt. You will also discover an artistic labyrinth with seven circuits that allow guests to lose themselves in contemplation while coming full circle. There is also an alternate maze, which displays a stunning flowering vine collection. Native flowers, plants, and trees are in plenty among the landscape. The gardens offer a prime location for hosting your wedding!

Heritage Adventure Park

If you’re looking for a little outdoor adventure, then you can discover that as well at the Heritage Museums and Gardens. There is a great Adventure Park located on the grounds, featuring the Heritage Museum Zip Line for an aerial forest expedition! You will discover 5 separate trails amongst this sky park, which include bridges between tree platforms and over 65 unique challenges to overcome. This is a great test of endurance as well as a fun way to spend your time on an adventurous date.
