Now, Candleberry Inn embarks on its next chapter under the stewardship of new innkeepers, Eric and Charlene Taubert – a couple whose depth of expertise, vibrant creativity, and passion for hospitality align perfectly with the legacy of this beloved Brewster landmark.
The Taubert’s journey together began in 2002 at the Publick House Historic Inn in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, where their shared love for creating memorable guest experiences first brought them together. Since then, their work and interests have taken them across the country and around the globe. From the palm tree shores of Sanibel Island in Southwest Florida; through cooking, pastry, and wine workshops all across Europe; and back to the picturesque landscapes of coastal New England – they’ve honed their craft at a multitude of well-respected hospitality venues and boutique properties.
Eric and Charlene most recently spent a notable decade transforming the Hartwell House Inn in Ogunquit, Maine, into a hallmark of New England charm. Their conscientious approach to hospitality, complemented by artfully prepared breakfasts and delectable baked treats, created an ambiance of elegance, romance, and warmth that resonated deeply with every guest who had the pleasure of visiting the landmark inn.
Over the years, the Tauberts have earned glowing accolades from delighted guests and prestigious recognition from industry organizations, including membership in the Select Registry: Distinguished Inns of North America. Their work has also garnered high praise in prominent regional and national travel-news and lifestyle publications.
Charlene is a seasoned hospitality professional currently pursuing a Doctorate of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership. She is also an accomplished baker and artist, imbuing imaginative flair into every aspect of her work. Eric is a skilled fine art photographer, talented chef, and writer who, alongside Charlene, co-publishes the New England Innkeeper website, which showcases the stories behind their culinary interests plus their fervor for living the coziest of New England lifestyles.
Now, as Charlene and Eric bring their uniquely complementary talents to the Candleberry Inn, they are dedicated to preserving the cherished traditions and values that have defined the inn for years – while also infusing it with their own personal touch. Their vision for Candleberry Inn is one of thoughtful hospitality, where every detail is designed to enhance the guest experience.
